A single-vehicle accident occurred today at the intersection of Los Patrones Parkway and Cow Camp Road in San Juan Capistrano, CA, involving a black 2024 Lexus. Emergency services responded quickly after receiving reports that the vehicle had veered off the roadway and ended up in a nearby channel, approximately 200 feet from the road.
At around 10:16 PM, emergency responders were alerted to a male driver trapped inside the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver was conscious and breathing during the rescue operation. Fire department personnel collaborated with the California Highway Patrol to extricate the driver from the vehicle, which was significantly off the shoulder.
Due to the challenging location of the vehicle, a heavy-duty tow truck was requested to assist in the recovery. The tow truck arrived and assessed the situation, determining that specialized equipment would be necessary to safely retrieve the Lexus from the channel.
As a result of the incident, traffic in the area was affected, with lane closures in place while emergency services worked to clear the scene. The vehicle was ultimately towed away after the driver was successfully rescued. The extent of the driver’s injuries remains unknown at this time.
This incident highlights the importance of safe driving and the potential hazards that can arise on California's roadways.
