A hit-and-run incident involving two vehicles occurred early this morning on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Washington Street in Palm Desert, CA. The collision took place at approximately 5:44 AM when a small white vehicle, identified as a Ford F150, struck a trailer and another vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services were dispatched shortly after the incident, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) classified the situation as a hit-and-run with no injuries reported by 5:47 AM. Witnesses noted that the Ford F150 was seen driving erratically before exiting at Jefferson Street and heading towards Indio Boulevard.
The first CHP unit arrived at the scene around 6:01 AM, and the last unit cleared the area by 8:57 AM. The damaged vehicles were towed from the scene due to the significant damage sustained. The gray Chevy Spark involved in the incident also suffered extensive damage.
Shortly after the collision, the Ford F150 was located at a nearby McDonald's, where the driver was identified. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the situation was managed without further complications.
Multiple units from the CHP and local police responded to ensure public safety and assist with traffic management. Although the incident caused some disruption, the efficient response allowed for the safe removal of the damaged vehicles and the reopening of lanes.
