A traffic incident involving two vehicles occurred today on Interstate 5 South near Sheldon Street in Los Angeles, CA, when a vehicle fell off a semi-truck and landed on another vehicle. The incident took place at approximately 3:40 PM, prompting a rapid response from emergency services.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the semi-truck was transporting a vehicle that fell off its carrier, causing significant debris to scatter across the roadway. Emergency units arrived on the scene shortly after the incident was reported, around 3:50 PM, to manage the situation and ensure public safety.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident. However, the falling vehicle led to lane closures due to the debris. By 5:03 PM, the CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the third and fourth lanes on the southbound side of Interstate 5, which is expected to remain in effect for approximately 40 minutes.
A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the vehicle that fell from the semi-truck. Additionally, a structural inspection of the overpass was requested to assess the integrity of the bridge following the incident.
The California Highway Patrol and other emergency services worked diligently to clear the scene and ensure the safety of motorists. Traffic was temporarily impacted, but responders managed the situation effectively, minimizing further disruptions.
Motorists traveling in the area are advised to exercise caution and remain alert for any ongoing lane closures or traffic delays as cleanup efforts continue. The CHP will provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the incident and the status of the roadway.
